CozyJars is a cozy pixel-art game about building tiny terrariums in mason jars.

Pour gravel, charcoal and soil grain by grain – every grain is a pixel that trickles, rolls and settles. Mist the soil, sprinkle moss, sow ferns and put the lid on. Then watch in time-lapse as your jar comes alive: water rises, fogs up the glass and runs back down, moss creeps over damp soil, ferns unroll, mushrooms pop up.

Build it wrong and the jar tells you: soggy soil starts to rot, white mold creeps in, the moss dries out. Nothing is ever lost – open the lid, add springtails, fix it.

In this demo

  • Falling-sand layers: gravel, charcoal, soil, coloured sand, clay pebbles, bark and leaves
  • A living jar: water cycle, moss, ferns, fittonia, mushrooms, rot, mold and springtails
  • Your terrarium journal: 16 discoveries to make
  • Eight orders from Mrs Hummel next door, each bringing something new, the later ones without a recipe
  • Stones that roll and tumble, and a little deer
  • A room that lives through the day: morning sun, rain on the window, lamps at night, soft piano music – open the window to hear the birds
